Money, Money, Money: High US Prices Understate Margins

  • This report discusses the recent improvement in US ethylene economics relative to the rest of the world and the conditions under which we might see additional US capacity mid-Decade. Unlikely, but not out of the question.
  • We juxtapose that with some thoughts on the gaping holes in US infrastructure and the challenges that an increase in US manufacturing, light or heavy, might face simply because of the infrastructure inadequacies, especially in power.
  • Otherwise, we watched prices (except for propylene) push higher because robust end-market demand continues, and the US production outages have created critical shortages, which could linger.

Last week we discussed 23 Chemical and related products and 97 Companies.
