India COVID Response Puts Global Chemical Markets At Risk

  • The tragic COVID events in India threaten to bring a vital cog in the global markets to a standstill – with recent economic revisions likely still too optimistic.
  • Countries/companies could benefit from providing help to India as the economy will take a significant hit this year – and those welcomed could prosper for years.
  • The sharp fall in US ethylene prices suggests the incremental buyer is offshore – the US remains a very competitive supplier of ethylene to the rest of the World.
  • More focus on carbon again this week with carbon prices continuing higher in Europe, but despite this, another highly subsidized CCS project was announced.

Last week we discussed 27 Chemicals and related products and 103 Companies.
