C-MACC Sunday Thematic & Weekly Recap 143

The Eye Of The Storm – Is It Fixed Or About To Get A Lot Worse?

  • As the market breathes a (premature in our view) sigh of relief on inflation, we look at places where the storm may be far from over – Ag, Water, China & Housing.
  • Fertilizer pricing, crop prices, and planting plans suggest a still tight backdrop for food production through 2023 – farmers and their suppliers should do well.
  • DuPont’s transformation has been handicapped/delayed by COVID and now fear of recession, but the portfolio is stronger, and “water” is likely the crown jewel.
  • Signals from China get more concerning to us each week. This is not the stable economy and society we have grown accustomed to – expect change in 2023.
  • Despite the potential for better inflation trends in the US, the property market is likely heading for a hard landing in 2023 – we still think it will recover quickly.

Last week we discussed 38 Chemicals and related products and 147 Companies.
