C-MACC Weekly “CRETER” (Climate etc.)

Madness – or Math or Vision – Green Equity Valuations

  • As green stocks drive higher, it is clear that ESG and climate change are having an impact, regardless of what moves the US administration might make. If sustained, the valuation impact of what is now seen to be in favor versus what is not, will likely drive corporate behavior more aggressively than any legislation might.
  • Sifting through the agendas in everyone’s rhetoric and pet projects will be a challenge for any government trying to set policy that ultimately drives the right decisions at the right pace – we make the case for an escalating carbon tax.
  • We are seeing some theoretical ideas around “closed loop” within the materials chain that either take a leap of technology faith or ignore the bad parts of the story to support the good or are unlikely to be economic – but they make nice pictures.
