Carbon Capture – It’s Very, Very Necessary!

C-MACC Weekly Sustainability and Energy Transition Report

Carbon Capture – It’s Very, Very Necessary!

  • 1st Topic of the Week: One of the more positive conclusions from our string of more negative pieces on hydrogen recently is the growing need to embrace carbon capture as a critical transition mechanism to lower emissions and to make a significant impact relatively quickly – should weather get politicians attention, this is an easy step.
  • 2nd Topic of the Week: Fulcrum should not cause a pivot away from gasification, but it should be another lesson in what does not work and how to adapt – we need the hydrogen in waste and biomass, and the potential SAF and other fuel/material supply. However, the Fulcrum failure will make it harder for others.
  • Otherwise: Most of what we discussed this week is hydrogen-related and will appear in our report on Tuesday.

Exhibit 1: The Green hydrogen does not include the 45V credit, but we are using grey power prices so that is consistent.
