Environmental “Affirmative Action” Could Cause More Problems
- 10 days in the UK resulted in many interesting conversations around, inflation, energy security/transition, jobs, lingering Brexit issues, Boris, Biden, and Putin.
- Some of the “tacit” employment affirmative action we see in the UK and Europe is raising costs for employers and we see a risk that a broader ESG trend develops.
- Overpaying, and competing for scarce resources, especially renewable power because of peer or shareholder pressure could drive down profits.
- Otherwise, (in a shorter report than usual) we have a lot on renewable power initiatives, rising costs of solar, increasing ambition in CCS, and more on investing.
